S. Michael Phillips - Director of Photography

S. Michael Phillips developed an interest in photography long before he started making movies. From shoot-to-edit home movies, to shooting wedding videos, to becoming an award-winning photojournalist, he has always had an eye. S. Michael was 28 when he made his first short film, a 40-minute zombie movie reminiscent of “Night of the Living Dead”. Then it was on to a post-apocalyptic action-adventure short. Neither picture created any sort of buzz. The idea for “Slay bottle” hatched when S. Michael imagined an inanimate object coming to life and taking revenge on its owner after being mistreated. “Slay Bottle” will have its world premier at the Forest Film Festival in Portland, Oregon on May 21st, 2005. It was also recently accepted for showing at the New York Film Festival later this year.
